Bhūmiyinda Farm is a small, organically-managed farm located on the edge of Milton, ON. We sell a large variety of fresh, high quality vegetables grown right here on the farm through a subscription-based CSA program, and offer CSA pickups in Milton, Mississauga, Guelph and Cambridge.

Bhūmiyinda (meaning ‘from the earth’ in Kannada) is a small farm filled with an abundance of diverse market gardens and polyculture orchards. We are committed to growing high quality food with sustainable growing practices. Everything on the farm is grown with ecological and low-till techniques, meaning that there are no chemical pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers, no heavy machinery or deep tillage. As a very small farm (under an acre), a lot of thought and care is put into nourishing the soil and surrounding ecology to support the growth of abundant, healthy and delicious food. These practices allow us to farm intensively, feeding about 100 households for over seven months of the year, through a subscription-based Community Supported Agriculture Program.

Hi there! I’m Alyssa- the farmer and owner of Bhūmiyinda. I officially started the farm in 2024, after spending several years farming elsewhere in Southern Ontario. I operate the farm full-time alongside a seasonal, part-time employee.
I love this work for the good food it provides for my community, the hope it brings for a more sustainable and equitable food system, the quiet company of flora & fauna, and the peace that comes from spending my days with my feet and hands in the soil. I hold immense gratitude for secure land access, to be able to work so closely with the earth, and for the generous abundance of the land that fills so many bellies with good food!
My education includes a Masters Degree in environmental science and a BSc in Wildlife Biology & Conservation, but my farming knowledge is credited to the wonderful farmers that I’ve had as mentors, and a lot of figuring it out as I go. Alongside of growing vegetables, I spend time planting trees, supporting wildlife habitat, developing food forests and building soil health to nourish the ecosystem so that it can support the growth of healthy crops.
When I’m not farming, I’m usually dancing, learning about herbal medicine, or cozying up with a book in the off-grid tiny home that I built with my partner.
